Sarah is a registered clinical psychologist and clinical supervisor, specialising in workplace mental health and wellbeing. With 15 years’ experience working as a clinician, supervisor and facilitator across various settings including universities, not-for-profit, public and private sectors, Sarah also has a PhD (Management) and is a lecturer at the University of Tasmania.
She applies her training and experience in mental health to her research projects and teaching. Her main research interests focus on the development of positive psychological resources in employees and work teams for enhanced performance and well-being.
Sarah uses her research expertise to inform her practice in workplace mental health and wellbeing. She is especially interested in evidence-informed practices that align with an integrated approach to workplace mental health – by focusing on preventing risks to employee mental health, effectively managing mental illness in the workplace when it arises, and importantly, promoting positive mental health and wellbeing across the career lifespan.
Having led several industry-funded research projects focused on the development and evaluation of interventions designed to promote positive workplace mental health and wellbeing, Sarah is also involved in research projects investigating the interface between work and family. Her research has been published in leading peer-reviewed management and organisational psychology journals. Sarah is based in Hobart and lives with her husband and two children (aged 11 and 7).
Sarah is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA), and the International Work and Family Researchers Network. Sarah is also a Fellow of the Positive Organisational Behaviour Institute (POBI). Sarah also currently serves as a director on the Relationships Australia (Tasmania) board and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
