The boundaries between work and life have never been more blurred than they are today. While there are many benefits to this new reality, the costs of work-life conflict are high and take a toll on both individuals and their work organisations. Finding innovative ways to help people integrate their work and life across the lifespan is of strategic importance to organisations intent on attracting and retaining valuable talent. As organisations seek proactive and protective work-life solutions, it is important to focus not only upon effective policies but also equipping leaders on how to best manage the realities of a flexible workplace.

This interactive 3.5 hour workshop is delivered by experienced lawyers and psychologists to provide a unique learning experience for leaders on the legal and best practice strategies for managing sustainable flexible work practices.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the challenges of work-life conflict and the place of flexible work practices in addressing these needs.
  • Highlight the critical role of leaders in implementing workplace flexibility, including practices that inhibit and enhance its success.
  • Identify common flexibility need points across the lifespan (i.e., work-family needs, eldercare, ageing workforce etc).
  • Understand legal obligations, including responding to requests for flexible working arrangements and avoiding discrimination.
  • Examine relevant considerations when entering into flexible working arrangements including impact on the individual, the business and how arrangements should be documented.
  • Explore best practice strategies and practical examples of effective workplace flexibility in action.
  • Discuss practical implications through real life case studies and the development of personalised ‘Flexibility Action Plans’.
